Creating an Outgoing Bluetooth Serial Port on Windows XP SP2
- First, make sure that the mobile's Bluetooth function is enabled.
- Run piAccess Link, before you continue if you have a supported Symbian OS phone (like the P800, P900, P910 or A1000)
- Then make sure that the Windows Bluetooth transceiver is working (if USB, make sure it's plugged in and activated).
- Open the Bluetooth Devices dialog,
either through the control panel
or through the tray icon.
- On the Windows dialog, select the mobile and press the Properties button, then select the Services tab.
- Windows will now scan the mobile for Bluetooth services.
- When it finishes, in the case that you are using a Symbian OS phone with piAccess Link, it should show a list that contains the piAccess serial port service. Otherwise it will only show the available serial port service(s) of your phone.
- Press OK to close the Properties dialog.
- Then, back in the Devices dialog, select the COM ports tab.
- Finally, make a note of the COM port that has been assigned to the piAccessLink Service in the case that you are using a supported Symbian OS phone or otherwise of a serial port service.
