Several things to try:

  • How many SMS messages do you have in your inbox and outbox? If there are many, it may take a little while (in the order of 1-2 minutes) for piAccess Mail to get all the messages.
  • Have you noticed whether piAccess link is working OK on the P910, e.g. by accessing it with another Windows-side program like FMA? This is to make sure the problem isn't on the Link side.
  • piAccess Mail creates a log file?. The default log setting may not catch enough detail, so here's how to increase the log level:

Edit your C:\PIACCESS\logging.properties file with Notepad (using the default installation directory here). Change the INFO to FINE in the .level=INFO and java.util.logging.ConsoleHandler.level=INFO lines, and restart piAccess Mail.

The log file will now show what's being passed between piAccess Mail and piAccess Link on the P910. If you don't see anything obviously wrong there, you can post that log file to this ticket for us to take a look. Note that this will include the (somewhat scrambled) contents of your SMS messages, so if you prefer not to post that to this (open to the public) ticket, you can send it to me at dk at piaccess dot com instead.

Hi, I have quite a number of messages but I have tried to leave it processing for half a day still could not finish too. I hav etried to connect using FMA without any problem. I managed to change the log but cannot try it out since the trial license already expire. Are you able to extend the license for another 1 week so that I can try?

Thanks

I've extended your Link license which you can (re-)download here. For Mail, I'll attach an extended license to this ticket, using the same IMEI as the Link license.

I've managed to download the SMS after changing the Debug to ALL (not FINE). But I notice it doesn't download the SMS from user defined folder, only download those from Inbox folder. I would be very appreciated if PiMail? can also download from personal folder. Is there anyway to do this? Thanks a lot for the help

Unfortunately, Link/Mail don't support custom folders at this time.

About the log setting: piAccess Mail not working unless the log setting is ALL: Did you observe that just once or can it be reproduced?

I think it is intermittent problem but most of the time I'm unable to make it work. I have tried again in the same settings couple of times but always stuck at "Connected, preparing message". And some times also the connection to the handphone is unstable got cut off in the middle. Any idea why? One more thing, will it read the Draft folder and Sent folder as well? And is there any plan to make it able to read the custom folder?

piAccess Mail currently only exports the Inbox as email messages. piAccess Link does export Inbox and Sent messages (so those would be available through e.g. FMA), but not Draft.

We don't have any immediate plans on adding custom folder support at this time; Doing so would take some research as different phones behave in different ways re: folders.
